FAQ

How long does it take to make one?

The collection of the caps takes the longest, but with my current collection I would estimate the time from conception to completion to be roughly 2 years.  Hoping to cut that down if I can devote more of my time to it.

Do you sell the mosaics?

As of now, no.  I devote a lot of my life to putting the mosaics together and I don't have a desire to part with them.  That said, I am not completely writing off the idea.  For the right price...

Where are they on display?

In my apartment.

How big are they?

The two I have completed so far are 16 square feet and my upcoming project looks like it will be 28 square feet.

How many caps does it take to make one?

For the two completed projects, the dimensions were 42 caps by 42 caps, but there are more than the 1764 that would call for as I do a lot of cap cutting.

Do you have better quality pictures?

I'm working on it.

How did you get started?

I started collecting bottlecaps about 8 years ago with the vague idea that I would do some sort of project with them.  The more kinds and colors of caps that I got, the more I wanted to make as intricate a design as I could.  As a big fan of The Beatles, the first intricate and colorful thing that came to mind was the Sgt. Peppers album cover.  With that a hobby was born.

Do you have a favorite bottlecap?

Write here...

Yes, the Lion Stout from Ceylon / Lion Brewery Limited, Sri Lanka.  It's a beautiful cap from a far away country.  I've only found one and it is a part of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Bottlecap Band.

Do you use caps from bottles that aren't beer?

Yes, you can find some Coca-Cola caps in each of my projects.
